In the new Broadway comedy Elling, the title character (played by Denis O'Hare) and his close friend Kjell Bjarne (Brendan Fraser) are former mental institution patients who find themselves hesitant to leave their new apartment. Broadway.com's resident artist Justin 'Squigs' Robertson went knocking on their door—actually the Ethel Barrymore Theatre, but you understand—and brought along his pen to capture the mayhem he found inside. Take a look as Squigs draws up the comedic crew of Fraser, O'Hare, Jennifer Coolidge, Richard Easton and Jeremy Shamos.
About the Artist: With a desire to celebrate the magic of live theater and those who create it, and with a deep reverence for such touchstones as the work of Al Hirschfeld and the wall at Sardi’s, Squigs is happy and grateful to be among those carrying on the traditions where theater and caricature meet. He was born and raised in Oregon, lived in Los Angeles for quite a long time and now calls New York City his home. Photo by Matthew Murphy
